We had a really enjoyable day with Jane, who shared her expertise in teaching Art through a series of creative activities. From optical illusion illustrations, to mark-making and movement – the day involved plenty of opportunities for everyone to expand their understanding of The Arts.
It was helpful to learn through experience and from the perspective of a pupil; I particularly enjoyed the ‘top-tips’ that Jane shared throughout the day, guiding us on how to apply these skills within a school setting. Artwork/Music/Dance-of-the-Month, the inclusion of different languages within daily routines and using relevant, high-level vocabulary are just some of the learning points I am looking forward to putting into practice.
Jane’s session reinforced the importance of enabling all pupils to have access to The Arts, and how it can easily be used to embed and enrich learning within all aspects of learning – contributing to the formation of a fully comprehensive curriculum.
I came away armed with a toolkit brimming full of engaging ideas for teaching Art to primary school children – and lots of new artwork of my own. It was fantastic!
