Where Excellent Teaching Begins
Welcome to the Colchester Teacher Training Consortium (CTTC), a strong and collaborative partnership of fourteen secondary schools and colleges in the Colchester area with a number of distinctive features that contribute to diversity and choice for trainees.
The wide variety of partner schools is a major strength of the consortium. We can offer trainees a teaching experience in a mixed comprehensive, an 11-18 school, a Roman Catholic school, a Grammar school, an Academy and a Sixth Form college. The range of subject specialisms and awards to be found within the Consortium is exceptional. In short CTTC has friendly well equipped schools that offer a wide range of educational experiences and understand the needs of Initial Teacher Training. It is a measure of our success that each year a high proportion of our trainees gain employment in our partner schools.
The Colchester Teacher Training Consortium is fully committed to the ideals and principles of School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) and Employment Based Initial Teacher Training (School Direct) and has the personnel, resources and the will to make teacher training in Colchester schools a success. Our goal is to provide the very best Initial Teacher Training, and to equip our trainees with the skills and knowledge for a rewarding career in Education. We endeavour to ensure this through celebrating the diversity of the consortium and promoting interdependence, providing high quality professional development for personnel in schools and developing a culture of professional self-evaluation.
Our PGCE is validated by the University of Greenwich and through the university we can also offer 60 credits towards a Master’s degree.
The latest Ofsted inspection has highlighted numerous strengths in the quality of our provision and a full copy of the report is available on the Ofsted site
